Rashid Hospitalkicks off apprenticeship training program in partnership with The Fatima College for Health Sciences

Rashid Hospital, the leading multi-speciality hospital in Dubaiand part of MHC ’s network of world-class healthcare providers, today sealed a strategic partnership for effective cooperation with the Fatima College of Health Sciences (FCHS), a subsidiary of the Institute of Applied Technology. The partnership launches an apprenticeship training program for medical students.

Powered by Rashid Hospital, the program serves to meet the United Arab Emirates’ growing need for skilled healthcare professionals and falls within Rashid Hospital’s continuous efforts to provide exceptional and personalized healthcare to address the needs of the community.

The agreement, signed by His Excellency Dr Ahmad Abdulmanan Alawar, Managing Director of Institute of Applied Technology and Dr Ashraqat Zaim , Chief Executive Officer at Rashid Hospital, has been created to meet the practical training needs of students during their academic year.

Students that have been chosen to kick start a 4-week clinical placement training to enhance their knowledge in their respective fields in four medical departments; radiology, physiotherapy, nursing and pharmacy. They will get the chance to observe and assist Rashid Hospitalphysicians and experts who will mentor them throughout their time at Rashid Hospital.

Commenting on the partnership, HE Dr. Ahmad Abdulmanan Alawar stated: “We are delighted to partner with Rashid Hospitalin this apprenticeship program. This opportunity will offer our students hands-on exposure as they prepare for medical careers and brings us even closer to our vision of preparing students for career and community success.”

Students will benefit from a sponsorship opportunity on the basis of positive performance evaluation by both the hospital and the faculty. A door is also open for potential employment at Rashid Hospitalsubject to the student successfully graduating.

About FCHS

Established in 2006, the Fatima College of Health Sciences (FCHS) aims to meet the United Arab Emirates growing need for skilled healthcare professionals. The college started by off­ering the BSc. in Nursing program in 2006 and has, since then expanded to offer more than 10-degree programs at BSc. and Diploma levels in Health Sciences. The nursing program is operated in collaboration with Griffith University in Australia.

In addition to the Bachelor Degree, the school of nursing off­ers a bridging program for diploma-holding practitioner nurses. The program was designed to graduate local students in the nursing ‑field and to upgrade the education of the diploma holder nurses already in the health sector.

The college has a mandate to help the health sector in Dubaiand UAE, in general, to satisfy its needs by graduating well educated and trained nurses.
